CD-ROM

EJECT BUTTON

Press the eject button located on the top right of the keyboard. Wait a moment for the CD tray to eject. put your CD-ROM on the tray and press the eject button again.



CD ICON

On the desktop, click on the CD icon. After double clicking this icon, a window will appear with the contents of your CD-ROM.

Now find your file and double click on it.

ZIP DRIVE


ZIP DRIVE

Insert your zip disk into the zip drive.



ZIP ICON

On the desktop, click on the Zip Disk icon. After double clicking this icon a window will appear with the contents of your zip disk. Find your file and click on it.



ZIP EJECT

Ejecting the disk
First, close the program you are using. Then do one of the following:

  • Drag the Zip Disk icon to the trash near the bottom right of the desktop
  • Select the Zip Disk icon and press APPLE + E

FLOPPY DRIVE

Insert your floppy disk into the floppy disk drive.

FLOPPY DRIVE

On the desktop, click on the Floppy Disk icon.

After double clicking, a window will appear with the contents of your floppy disk. PLEASE NOTE - the floppy drives are VERY SLOW. We reccomend that you copy your file to the desktop before class starts and open your file from the desktop for the best results. To do this, drag your file from the floppy disk window to the desktop. Once it has finished copying (this may take a few minutes), open the file on the desktop (not the disk).

  • Drag the Floppy Disk icon to the trash near the bottom right of the desktop
  • Select the Floppy Disk icon and press APPLE + E

NETWORKING / INTERNET


NETWORK CABLE


Plug in your network cable. Plug it into the port labelled with a dot. You are now ready to use the internet.



SERVER ICONS

Double click on the icon for Xena



SERVER VOLUMES

Select the volume(s) you would like to use



LOGIN SCREEN

Enter your login and password.

TROUBLESHOOTING THE NETWORK (or INTERNET CONNECTION)

If the network connection does not work, try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Check the cables to make sure they are securely connected
  • Restart the computer - go to the APPLE MENU (top left corner) and select Restart...

If the problem persists, call the media studio at 1-7964. Please note that we can not fix username and password issues or fix the network in the rare case that the network is down. If you have problems with your username or password, please contact the C.A.T. (Computer Assistance Team) at 2-4792
